In 1997 the 18-year-old Martin Wild, a pioneer in digital retail, set up the online electronic shop Home of Hardware, which he sold to Premiere (now Sky) ten years later. Wild has held a management role in the company since 2011. As Vice President for Multichannel he was in charge of the launch of; later he became CEO of Redcoon, which is also part of the Group. From 2014 to 2018 he led the digital strategy and transformation of the whole MediaMarktSaturn Retail Group as Chief Digital Officer. He was appointed Chief Innovation Officer in January 2018.

Handelsblatt names him as among the 100 cleverest people in Germany and, in terms of advertising & sales, he is in the top 100 digital managers.

The MediaMarktSaturn Retail Group operates Europe’s largest specialised electronics market chain. Chief Innovation Officer Martin Wild has implemented radically progressive innovation in the company and worked on new business models. This not only means more visible measures for customers, e.g. robots in physical stores or virtual reality when shopping online. The Retailtech Hub was also initiated, an accelerator where start-ups can come to meet established commercial companies to work on the concepts for the retail of tomorrow.

The company is the amalgamation of MediaMarkt and Saturn, which were previously independent electronic chains. The MediaMarkt brand was established in 1979; Saturn in 1961. Today, the company employs a total of around 65,000 employees and achieves revenues of EUR 22 billion.
