Tarek Müller is co-founder of About You and, as Managing Director, is responsible for marketing and brands. Tarek Müller set up his first online shop at the age of 13. Since then he has been instrumental in building numerous e-commerce models in various industries in the role of Managing Partner. Since 2007 he has founded service companies that support the development and implementation of new business models. His agency, NetImpact Framework, was developing to become one of Germany’s largest digital agencies — one of its clients was the Otto Group. In June 2013 it took over the company. At the same time the Otto Group took over agency Creative-Task. The core team for About You was formed from both companies. In addition, Müller holds the role of Partner at eTribes Framework GmbH, which was established in 2011. He is an active investor and Business Angel. In total he holds shares in 15 companies. In 2010 he set up the code.talks conference for developers, together with Sebastian Netz. In 2014 Müller won the “e-Star Personality Award”; in 2015 and 2016 he was named by Capital magazine in the ‘Young Elite – Top 40 under 40’; and in 2018 he was listed by US magazine Forbes as “one of the brightest European entrepreneurs” in the ‘30 under 30’.
About You was set up in 2013 as an Otto Group subsidiary. In its first three years the online shop achieved sales of EUR 100 million and, with a growth rate of over 100 per cent, is one of Europe’s fastest growing e-commerce companies. About You digitalises traditional online buying and reacts to the increasingly powerful trend towards customisation. At the heart of the business are individual end consumers with their personal style profiles. Algorithms define the individual style, which can be called up in the customer’s personalised online store.
